Kamalpur assembly constituency is in the Dhalai district of Tripura State. There are 43,255 voters in the constituency of which 38,674 voters voted in the last election making the voting to around 89.41%. The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 96.36% Hindus, 2.37% Muslims and 0.71% Christians.

Manoj Kanti Deb candidate belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat in last election defeating Bijoy Laxmi Singha of Communist Party Of India (Marxist) by 2,959 Votes.
