About Malerkotla Assembly Constituency

Malerkotla is constituency No. 105 of Punjab legislative assembly. The north Indian state of Punjab has 117 assembly constituencies and it returns 13 MPs to the Lok Sabha. Malerkotla assembly constituency is situated in Sangrur district and comes under Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency.

According to the Election Commission of India, Malerkotla assembly constituency has 1,30,397 registered voters. It comprises 70,169 male and 60,228 female registered voters.

In the 2012 Punjab Assembly elections, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won this seat by 5,200 votes. F. Nesara Khatoon, the winning candidate from SAD party, got 56,618 votes. The runner-up was Razia Sultana from Congress who got 51,418 votes. The voter turnout was 87%.
