About Faridkot Assembly Constituency

Faridkot is constituency No. 87 of Punjab legislative assembly.
It is situated in Faridkot district and comes under Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency. The corresponding Lok Sabha constituency is, however, reserved for scheduled castes.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Faridkot assembly constituency has 1,33,967 registered voters. It has 70,110 male and 63,857 female registered voters.

In the last Punjab assembly elections held in 2012, the Shiromani Akali Dal won this constituency by a narrow margin of 2,727 votes. Deep Malhotra, the winning Shiromani Akali Dal candidate, got 52,062 votes. With 49,335 votes, the runner-up was senior Congress leader Avtar Singh Brar. The voter turnout was 83.73 %.
