About Karaikal South Assembly Constituency

Karaikal South is constituency No. 27 of Puducherry legislative assembly. It is situated in Karaikal district. It is an open constituency.

According to the Election Commission of India, Karaikal South has 26,802 registered voters. It includes 12,550 male and 14,252 female registered voters.

In the 2011 Assembly elections, the DMK won this seat by a margin of 1,576 votes. A.M.H. Nazeem, the winning candidate from DMK, got 8,377 votes. Independent candidate V.K. Ganapathy, who was the nearest contender, got 6,801 votes. The voter turnout was 79.48 %.
