Rajasthan Assembly decision results were declared on December 11. With the Congress not anticipating any CM look for the elections, supporters of both the pioneers began pushing for their particular pioneers for the best post. After furious conferences which proceeded for about two days after Assembly race results, the Congress on Thursday picked Ashok Gehlot to be Rajasthan’s Chief Minister. An official declaration in such manner is yet to be made and is expected to come out later this evening. The choice came after Congress president Rahul Gandhi met both the contenders – Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot – independently in New Delhi
Ashok Gehlot who has done a noteworthy job in the political lobby since 1971, when the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi delegated him as the President of Rajasthan’s National Students Union of India (NSUI). Gehlot was 20 at that point. After some time, he constructed a solid affinity with the Gandhi family. Gehlot was first chosen to Parliament in 1980, from where he proceeded to win Lok Sabha races four additional times. He has been speaking to the Sardarpura body electorate, a seat he won this time by more than 40,000 votes, since 1999. He has won five sequential terms in the Assembly from the Sardarpura. At the Center, Gehlot has held services of the travel industry, common flying, sports and materials somewhere in the range of 1982 and 1993. In 2013, despite the fact that Gehlot won from his voting demographic, he lost the greater fight due to hostile to incumbency. A dreary execution versus improvement, communal riots in Bharatpur and Gopalganj and corruption prompted the approaching fate that came to pass for Gehlot in the Assembly Elections.
After the declaration of results of Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018 it was Rahul Gandhi who sought the views of party workers through an internal messaging system with a pre-recorded message asking them to send their views directly to him through the application.
Since the next year’s Lok Sabha Election may have a huge bearing on the decision of choosing Ashok Gehlot for the CM’s role over Sachin Pilot, Congress might be looking for a decision that will keep both leaders happy, since it is the combined strength of both that has brought the party this far and lead to win Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018. The party cannot afford to upset any of the two candidates at this stage.
So, Congress may be positioning Sachin Pilot in Delhi for a national role considering his popularity while Ashok Gehlot serves as Chief Minister of Rajasthan for the next 5 years.
