PM Modi will be addressing his third Mega Rally today in Mamta Banerjee’s West Bengal today. The rally, scheduled to take place in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, comes days after Mamta Banerjee called off her sit-in protest against BJP’s politically motivated attempts to question Kolkata Police Chief Rajeev Kumar in Sharda Chit Fund scam in which, as per CBI’s speculations, several top leaders of Mamta’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) party are involved.
The bitter battle started when Mamta Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is a part of Mahagathbandhan, and BJP came face to face when Mamta accused PM Modi of misusing CBI against the police chief and TMC for political benefits. According to sources, it is believed that Modi will address this rally in order to give a befitting reply to Mamta’s accusation on Modi and his government. “Apart from the message to the party cadre, we are hopeful that Modiji would also give a fitting reply to the TMC’s unconstitutional dharna (protest),” said a senior BJP leader.
Raju Banerjee, BJP’s general secretary claimed that Mamta has warned all the bus operators in West Bengal ordering them not to carry any BJP workers to the rally. He also claimed that Mamta’s party workers are keeping eyes on all the BJP supporters and workers in order to threaten them.
In his rally, last week, in Durgapur Modi branded Mamta Banerjee as “extortionist” claiming that the government of West Bengal is being run by a corrupt leader. Last month, Mamta ad 23 other anti-BJP opposition leaders united in a rally, “United India Rally”, in order to reiterate their resolve to defeat Modi in West Bengal.
It is worth mentioning that BJP won only 2 seats out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections and this time party’s president is aiming for 23 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
