The Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha comprises 91 Members in Legislative Assembly, which include 90 members directly elected from single-seat constituencies and 1 nominated from the Anglo-Indian community. Its term is 5 years, unless sooner dissolved.
The term of the Assembly for Chhattisgarh is expected to dissolve on January 5. The polling was conducted in two phases on 12th November and 20th November 2018.
Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018 saw a decline in voting percentage from 77.40 in 2013 to 76.35 percent in two-phased polls last month.

Security tightens in Chhattisgarh as just one day left for the declaration of results. Security Forces deployed in Naxal hit areas. Drones are also being used for surveillance in some areas of the state.

The Chhattisgarh Congress party has filed a petition in Chhatisgarh HC following complaints of EVM tampering. Party also demanded that VVPAT paper slips used in EVMs during the elections also be counted. The High Court will hear the matter on 10th of December 2018, a day before the declaration of results.
3 men claiming to be employed with Reliance Jio, apprehended from a Strong Room in Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur. Police said it’s being investigated if they have IDs since it isn’t possible to enter the strong room without IDs.

Chhattisgarh has a 90-seat assembly with a majority mark of 46 and there are three key parties contesting in the state — the incumbent BJP, the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) which has struck an alliance with former chief minister Ajit Jogi’s newly-formed party Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC).
