  • Assam Govt Swearing-in Today
    Assam's next chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his 10-member cabinet is going to take oath today. Sonowal's cabinet may include two ministers each from alliance partners Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF). The AGP has been bargaining hard for three berths instead of two. Former Congress member Himanta Biswa Sarma may also be part of the swearing-in today.

  • Congress Not Yet Decided on Puducherry CM Candidate
    It's been five days since the Puducherry Assembly election results came out and the Congress swept to power in alliance with DMK. But the party is yet to select its leader in the legislature. This is causing delay in government formation in the union territory. According to reports, AICC General Secretary V. Narayanasamy is in talks with the Congress high command in Delhi to arrive at a consensus.

  • West Bengal Opposition May Skip Mamata Banerjee's Swearing-in
    With West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee all set to take oath as CM for the second time on 27 May, the opposition parties seem not likely to attend the ceremony. The Left, Congress and the BJP may skip the event to register their protest against the post-poll attacks across the state by the Trinamool Congress. One person died due to inter-party clashes at Birbhum.

  • Left-Congress Alliance to Stay in West Bengal
    Senior members of both the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Congress have declared that their tie-up will continue to work together in West Bengal. There have been wide-ranging speculations about the future of Left-Congress alliance in the state after their defeat in the Assembly elections. In what is seen as a rare show of solidarity, CPI(M) state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra and Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury together submitted a memorandum to West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on post-poll violence in the state.

    Kerala Governor Justice P. Sathasivam invited Pinarayi Vijayan today to form the next government in the state. Vijayan has been unanimously elected the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) legislature party. The LDF has 91 MLAs in Kerala's 140-member state legislative Assembly.
