  • BJP Sweeps Municipal Polls
    The BJP has emerged victorious in the Gujarat civic polls. The party has won in 47 municipalities, while Congress grabbed seats in the 16 of the total 75 municipalities.
    The polls in the state took place last week on February 17 across 28 districts. BJP and Congress were the major competitors for the polls.
    According to the Election Commission report, the Dahod municipality witnessed the highest turnout of 76.67%. The lowest turnout was recorded at 50.17% at Rajkot. The results have declared for 1400 village panchayats, 17 talukas, two district panchayats, and 72 of the 75 municipalities.

  • Nagaland Election: NPF President Warns People of BJP
    Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, the NPF president, has slammed BJP and asked the Naga people to protect the Christian culture, faith and identity. He pointed out that under the saffron party's rule, many Christians had suffered. Addressing the election rally at Chedema village, he urged the crowd to stand firm for Christianity. He also warned the present mass there about the BJP's ideology. He also shed light on the atrocities the Christian community has faced under the saffron party's government.

  • BJP, Congress Release Manifesto in Nagaland
    Ahead of the Nagaland polls, both the leading parties, BJP and Congress had their manifestos released on Friday. According to the manifesto, the saffron party would send 50 lucky people to Jerusalem free of cost. The people would be selected on the basis of a lucky draw. The Congress too has made a promise of the similar sorts, but the promise is directed towards the minority community, with a fare set at subsidised costs. Other than the visit, all parties are focused on bringing development in the state and working towards the Naga solution.

  • Religion Factor Might Drift Nagaland Poll Results
    Ahead of the Nagaland polls, religion has taken the center stage in the state and is considered to be a major factor in influencing the poll results. The Church body in the state has openly urged the voters to not poll in favour of the saffron party. The body also labeled the saffron party as communal. BJP, which has recently formed a coalition with the NDPP(Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party) finds support in the alliance. Neiphiu Rio, the CM candidate of the coalition, has come forward in defense of the saffron party. He told the media that the party was not a religious one. He added that the party's only agenda is development.

  • Congress candidate Killed in Meghalaya
    A candidate of the Congress party was killed on his way back from the campaigning in Meghalaya. Jonathone N Sangma, along with his bodyguard and two other party workers, became the target of an IED (Improvised Explosive Device ) explosion. The IED went off at East Garo Hills on Sunday night. According to the police, the terrorists are suspected to be behind the act. Ramkumar S, the District Magistrate, has reported that the 4 bodies were found at the location. The state CM Mukul Sangma has expressed grief over the death through Twitter. He added that the incident would not disturb the peace in the state.
    Meghalaya Election will be held on Feb 27 along with Nagaland Election. The results of both the states will be declared on March 3.

  • Gujarat Civic Poll Trends
    Out of the total 75 municipalities, Congress is leading in 27, BJP in 44 and other parties are trending in 4 Nagar Palikas. BJP has wrested the Jamnagar's Dhrol municipality from Congress. In the Amreli district, the saffron has won Lathi municipality's 23 seats. In the Patan district's Radhanpur municipality, the Congress has managed a victory. From the Chhota Udaipur municipality, an Independent candidate has won.

  • BJP Ahead in Civic Poll Trends
    BJP has won the seat in Anand district's Karamsad municipality. The saffron party is leading in 41 municipalities, while Congress in 27. The party has also become victorious in Vadnagar, Halvad and Vallabh Vidyanagar municipality. In the Sabarkantha municipality, the BJP has bagged 17 seats, while Congress has grabbed 3 seats.

  • Gujarat Civic Polls: Vote Counting Begins Today
    The vote counting for the Gujarat civic polls has begun today at 8 AM. The results would be declared today only. The voting was conducted peacefully on Saturday for the 75 municipalities. Rajkot was reported to have the lowest turnout at 50.17% while Dahod stands at 76.67%, the highest recorded in the state.
