  • Karnataka Govt Indicted for Poor Handling of Police Forces
    The Karnataka government has been formally charged less than a week after Vishwanath Shetty, the Karnataka Lokayukta, was stabbed in his own chamber. According to a letter by the IPS Officers’ (Karnataka) Association, the state government is indicted for the handling of police forces. The letter has apparently, caused a flutter in Karnataka. Rajeev Pratap Sharma, the association’s president, in a letter dated March 8, called on Ratna Prabha, the chief secretary, in order to seek her intervention. He also mentioned the serious security lapse. In his letter, he said, “I am sure if stronger and professional mechanism had existed, such happenings could have been avoided.”

  • Karnataka Polls: AAP to Contest for 28 Seats in Bengaluru
    AAP has finalised the list of candidates who would contest polls from Bengaluru. The prominent candidates among the list of 28 candidates include the former secretary to the Union government, Renuka Viswanathan and the social entrepreneur, Prithvi Reddy. Another important candidate is a retired IAS officer, Viswanathan, who would fight from the Shanthinagar seat, currently held by NA Haris. However, the party is yet to make the list public, but some members are sure to be a part of the contest. Those are Mohan Dasari (CV Raman Nagar), MC Abbas (BTM Layout) and Lingaraj Urs(KR Puram). Karnataka Election will supposedly be held April-May of this year.

  • 5 Candidates Filed Nominations For Karnataka Rajya Sabha Seats
    A total of 5 candidates have filed their nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections due on March 23. Among the five candidates, three are from Congress and one each from JDS and BJP. All these nominations are filed for Karnataka Rajya Sabha seats, which has 4 seats going vacant next month due to its members retiring. G C Chandrasekhar, Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, and Dr. L Hanumanthaiah are the candidates from Congress. B M Farooq from JDS and Rajeev Chandrashekar from BJP have filed their nominations.
    Yesterday was the last date for filing of nominations.

  • Rajya Sabha Polls Unlikely to Take Place in Bihar
    Considering the fact that a very few of the candidates have filed nominations in Bihar, the Rajya Sabha election which is scheduled to take place on March 23, might not take place in the state after all. Till the very last day of nomination filing, only 6 candidates have filed their names. Those who have filed their nominations are: Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP), Mahendra Prasad (JD (U)), state president Bashistha Narain Singh(JD (U)), RJD national spokesman Manoj Jha, Katihar Medical College founder Ahmad Ashfaque Karim(RJD), and Congress’s Akhilesh Prasad.

  • Siddaramaiah Dancing to Raunchy Song Gone Viral
    Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls, a video has surfaced of state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dancing to a rather raunchy song. The video now has gone viral on social media. Siddaramaiah is yet to comment on the video but Srivatsa YB, the social media head of Congress in Karnataka, has released a statement on Twitter stating that the video was fake and also warned of filing a defamation case against those who were involved in posting it.
    The video which is also uploaded on Youtube has got way more attention than all the development messages put out by the CM”s office.
