Congress Wins Jayanagar SeatThe Jayanagar polls have been won by Congress. The Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy defeated the rival candidate by as many as 2,889 votes. The counting carried through 16 rounds.The party workers of Congress have started celebrating by bursting crackers after the impressive win. The victory has now led to the count of 80 seats for the Congress in the Karnataka Assembly.Ramalinga Reddy, the father of Sowmya, has stated that he expected the victory to come with even greater margin but was not disappointed at all.2018-06-13 01:02:07 PM
Karnataka Polls: Counting Begins in JayanagarThe vote counting has begun in the Jayanagar constituency of Karnataka. Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the police around the counting centres. The polls were held on June 11. The voter turnout was recorded to be 55%. The polling in this constituency was deferred from the May 12 date owing to the death of sitting BJP candidate B N Vijayakumar.Locked in the poll contest for the seat are none other than the brother of late Vijayakumar, B N Prahlad and former minister & senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy's daughter Sowmya Reddy.
