  • BJP: Temple Visits Are an Election Gimmick
    Many BJP senior leaders in Karnataka have labelled the numerous temple visits by the Congress president Rahul Gandhi as an election gimmick. During the last three days, the Gandhi scion has been on the tour of the state and has visited a number of temples. The places on his list are Bellary, Yadgir, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal and Gulbarga districts in the northern part of the state. While Rahul has not commented on the goal of his temple visits, the Congress leaders have revealed that the aim is to get rid of the 'anti-Hindu' label. The saffron party leaders are, however, calling it as 'fake Hinduism'.

  • Big Promises by Congress for Tripura Polls
    The Congress has promised employment, waiving off farmers' loans and overall development in the state of Tripura, if voted to power. V Narayanswamy, the Puducherry Chief Minister and AICC general secretary, dismissed the promises and claims made by the Left and the saffron party. He labelled the promise of BJP of 'acche din' as treachery and CPM's claim of the golden age in the state as a failure. He urged the people to vote for Congress for bringing peace, employment, healthcare and the unity in the state. He also blamed BJP for contesting the polls on the power of money and muscle.

  • 372 Candidates in Fray for Meghalaya polls
    A total of 372 candidates are in the contest for the Meghalaya Election, scheduled for February 27. According to the Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Frederick R Kharkongor, a total of 375 nominations were filed and three of the candidates have withdrawn their nominations on the last official date, leaving the total candidate count to 372. Out of the three candidates, two were from NPP, namely S Bamon (contesting from the constituency of Sutnga-Saipung) and L Ymbon(contesting from the constituency of Raliang). The third candidate is an Independent candidate. Out of all the candidates, the number of females is 32, while the rest 340 candidates are males.

  • Rijju: BJP-NDPP Coalition Won't Come in the Way of Naga Accord
    Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home in Nagaland, has assured that the coalition between the NDPP and BJP would not hinder the implementation of the Naga accord. However, he did not comment on whether the party, if voted to power, would support the Nagaland Assembly's dissolution in order to smoothly implement the accord. He also stated that no political party would act as a resistance in the Naga insurgent group NSCN(IM) peace deal. He added that the central government was looking forward to the solution for the 7 decade-old insurgency in the state.

  • NPCC Election Manifesto Released
    Capt Praveen Dawar, All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer, has released the manifesto of the party in Nagaland, ahead of the polls. K Therie, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president, stated on the occasion that the Assembly did not fulfill its purpose of discussing issues with the people. He also lamented the fact that people were giving more weight to the money power than the issues which haunt the state. He alleged that the state did not benefit from the Plan/non-Plan fund other than the 14th Finance Commission award. He also added that the state is suffering from the deficit of more than Rs 2,000 crore.

  • NPP Filed Complaint against a Candidate on Inflammatory Charges
    A candidate from the South Tura constituency in Meghalaya has been issued a notice by the EC (Election Commission). The complaint has been filed against the candidate by the National People’s Party (NPP) on charges of delivering 'hate speech' and for conducting a meeting related to campaigning without permission. As per the claims by the NPP, the meeting was held by Grithalson Arengh with his supporters on February 9. According to the complaint, there were inflammatory words used against them and the saffron party. There are also allegations from the NPP that Arengh stated that if the parties got elected to power, Christianity would get eliminated.

On Monday, he addressed a rally in Kanchanpur and Jubrajnagar regions of the state. His roadshows witnessed huge support amidst the chants of 'Yogi Yogi', Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Chalo Paltai'. He also visited the Gorakhnath Temple, located in Dharmanagar. According to the reports, he was trying to build a connection between the saffron party and people belonging to the ‘Nath Sampraday’.
