  • Jayanagar Records 55% Polling
    As per the reports by the Karnataka election authorities, there was a recorded 55% polling at Bengaluru's Jayanagar assembly constituency. Out of the total 111,689 voters, there were 54,824 female and 56,865 male voters.
     
    Polling in Jayanagar constituency got postponed from the May 12 due to sitting BJP candidate B.N. Vijaykumar's death. Both Congress and BJP are trying hard to sweep this constituency under their umbrella as this would increase their seat count in the Assembly. In the polls, BJP emerged with the highest number of seats- 104, while Congress and JD(S) bagged 78 and 38 seats respectively.

  • Kejriwal Demands Statehood Status of Delhi
    AAP head and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has pressed hard his demand for granting Delhi the Statehood status. In return, he has promised that he would campaign for the saffron party in the Lok Sabha polls to be held next year. In addition, he has also warned the central government that in the event of non-fulfilment of the demand, his party would start a “BJP, quit Delhi” campaign. Kejriwal also wanted to know if the promise made by Modi of statehood granting to Delhi was a 'jumla', a common election rhetoric.
     
    Kejriwal even went further to state that Delhi had been harassed by the Centre even more than it had got at the hand of British.

  • Karnataka: 2 Ministers Likely to Get Their Portfolios Changed
    As there are signs of unhappiness over the portfolio allocation in the coalition government formed in Karnataka, the CM H D Kumaraswamy has decided to change the portfolios of a few ministers. However, the CM has not made any public announcements, but ministers like H D Devegowda have confirmed the news.
     
    Devegowda has reportedly been unhappy since he was given the higher education portfolio while he wanted one which allowed him to have a better interaction with people. Another minister, Puttaraju, has also expressed unhappiness over being given the charge of irrigation portfolio as he was expecting a bigger profile.
