The assessment process, in which ministers and ministries were ranked and judged on several criteria, was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. A talent acquisition process was done after vetting of several MPsto pick 19 new faces for induction in the council of ministers. According to sources, a detailed research was conducted by a few trusted workers of the PM in the government and the party while the PM himself took the final decisions.

  • Amit Shah To Replace Anandiben As Gujarat CM: Arvind Kejriwal

    Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has claimed that, according to sources, the BJP is going to replace Anandiben Patel with the party's national president Amit Shah as the state's Chief Minister. While touring the state, the Delhi chief minister also tweeted that Gujarat is fed up of Anandiben Patel's corrupt mal-administration adding that there is huge support for the AAP. Kejriwal kickstarted AAP's campaign for the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections by visiting the Somnath Temple. He attacked the BJP governments at the Centre and the state while addressing a gathering of farmers on the outskirts of Somnath city.

  • Congress MLA Threatens To Resign Ahead of Goa Assembly Polls

    With Assembly elections due in the state of Goa next year, the Congress party's Goa wing is witnessing some rebellion within its ranks. Senior Congress leader Vishwajit Rane has said he will resign from the party if it fails to strike an alliance with like-minded parties. Citing the case of BJP, which he pointed out, has won in other states because of division of opposition votes, Rane contended that there is no personal agenda behind taking up the alliance but political necessity. Rane is an MLA who represents Valpoi constituency in the Goa legislative assembly. He made his statement in response to Goa Congress chief Luizinho Faleiro's announcement that the party will fight independently in the next state polls.

  • 2017 UP Elections: BSP To Field 100 Muslim Candidates

    The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) declared that it is going to field five Muslim candidates out of the eight assembly seats in Bijnor. The move seems to be BSP supremo Mayawati's attempt at combining Dalit-Muslim votes. The ruling Samajwadi Party has, on the other hand, fielded four Muslim candidates for Bijnor's eight seats. It is worth noting that the BSP has provisionally decided to field more than 100 Muslim candidates, its highest ever, in the 2017 Assembly polls, most of them in western Uttar Pradesh.

  • Amit Shah Continues Onslaught On SP, BSP in Uttar Pradesh

    Continuing with his attack on the two main political contenders in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party, BJP president Amit Shah said that neither of these two parties could usher development in the state. Likening the two parties with 'Rahu' and 'Ketu', he said that they were eclipsing development of the state. He said this while addressing a rally jointly organised by his party and Bharatiya Samaj Party in Mau. Shah commented that while the 'chariot' of development has begun its journey in the country, it gets stuck in Uttar Pradesh because the state government does not want the benefits of development reach its people.

    In what is set to be another major setback for BSP matriarch Mayawati ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, BSP national secretary Paramdev Yadav has resigned from his post after serving the party for 35 years. This follows the resignation of three other BSP leaders who have quit the party in the last few weeks. Paramdev said he felt stifled in Mayawati's BSP as, according to him, money power was gaining prominence at the cost of Dalit interests.
