  • Modi Reaches Out to Kashmir Ahead of Independence Day

    A week before his address to the nation to mark the 70th anniversary of India's independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to its people, especially the youth, to give up their guns and take to agriculture for the benefit of the people and make Kashmir green. Modi expressed concerns about the “forces” which are trying to “foster disunity in the country”. He sought a dialogue with the people of the state on the basis of humanity, democracy and “Kashmiriyat”. These were his first comments since the violence that erupted in Kashmir Valley after Burhan Wani's death. He had come under attack from the opposition for not speaking up on the issue.

  • AAP to Declare Goa Candidates' List in Sept

    The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is going to announce its first list of candidates for the 2017 Goa Assembly elections by the middle of September this year. This was revealed to the media by the party's media head Rupesh Shinkre. Kejriwal had earlier expressed confidence that his party would win 35 out of 40 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections. The party has already announced the name of 19 candidates for 2017 Punjab Assembly polls last week.

  • Uttarakhand Polls 2017: Samajwadi Party Leader Joins Congress

    The Samajwadi Party suffered a major setback ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections in Uttarakhand with the exit of its general secretary Abdul Matin Siddiqui. Siddiqui has joined Congress along with hundreds of his supporters. He was a senior leader of the Samajwadi Party with a strong support base in  Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. The Samajwadi Party has been struggling to make a mark in Uttarakhand since its formation in 2000.
