  • BJP, Congress out with Candidate List for By-Polls in Rajasthan
    Both BJP and Congress announced their list of candidates who will contest in the by-elections to be held in Rajasthan. The by-polls will be held on January 29 for the Assembly constituency of Mandalgarh and Lok Sabha seats of Ajmer and Alwar. For Alwar and Ajmer, BJP has named labour minister Jaswant Singh Yadav and Sanwar Lal Jat’s son Ramswaroop Lamba.
     
    On the other hand, Congress has filed Raghu Sharma, a former MLA, for the Ajmer seat, Karan Singh Yadav for Alwar and Vivek Dhakad for the Mandalgarh seat.
     
    The by-polls are scheduled as the result of the death of previous seat holders.

  • Tripura: Tribal Parties Aiming to Form Alliance with Big Parties
    The election campaigning is picking up speed as the Tripura elections are drawing closer. Many tribal parties are looking for forming alliances with major parties like the BJP and Congress. IPFT (Indigenous People's Front of Tripura), one of the main tribal parties of the state, has held meetings with PM Narendra Modi and other central BJP leaders regarding the same issue.
     
    All the parties are aggressively campaigning for the elections. Both the BJP and Congress have formally started their campaigning in the north-eastern state. CPI(M) politburo member Brinda Karat is on a 5-day election campaign in the state. Party's general secretary Sitaram Yechury has too hosted a rally at Agartala.

  • Meghalaya Elections: No Attempt Made by Congress to Campaign in the state
    Both BJP and NPP have started the election campaigning for Meghalaya Assembly Election. However, Congress is yet to appear on the scene to appease the voters. There have been no posters and no rallies conducted by the party so far. Newly appointed president of Congress committee, Celestine Lyngdoh, however, stated that they would ensure the next government would be Congress only.
     
    On the other hand, the saffron party is in full swing as evident from the visit by BJP chief Amit Shah. The party even held a meeting to discuss strategy for wresting the power from the current government the state had.

  • BJP, Congress to Visit Karnataka ahead of Polls
    All major political candidates for BJP and Congress are scheduled to visit Karnataka, before Karnataka Elections. The last week of January will witness important visits from PM Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi. They are likely to hold meetings and rallies in the state.
     
    The visit would be a first for the Gandhi scion. His 3-day visit, starting from January 27, will address a string of rallies.
     
    On the other hand, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and KPCC president G Parameshwara will be in a meeting meant for the discussion of the strategy for upcoming polls.
