  • Greater Hyderabad Civic Polls Results to be Announced Today

    The people of Greater Hyderabad region have to wait a little longer to know the results of the civic polls today. The results of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election 2016 will be delayed for few hours as the counting of votes has been postponed to 4 pm instead of 8 am due to the re-polling at the 52nd Division in Puranapul. The election has seen a close fight between ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and All India Majlis-e-Itttehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

  • Kerala Assembly Polls: CEC Rejects Demand for Raising Expenditure Limit for Candidates

    Citing lack of justification for raising the expenditure limit of candidates contesting Kerala assembly elections, the Election Commission on Thursday rejected the demand of certain political parties. While addressing the reports, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nasim Zaidi said in no uncertain terms that the poll panel has laid down a limit of Rs. 28 lakh, but  "very few winning candidates report expenditure to this limit". According to him, most of the candidates report “only 40 to 50 per cent (of the limit amount)".

  • Congress, CPI(M) Workers Join Hands in Bengal; Top Leadership Still Undecided

    If reports are believed to be true, then the CPI(M) and Congress workers in West Bengal have already started working in tandem to defeat the TMC in the coming assembly elections. Although the leaderships of the Congress and CPI(M) are still undecided on whether to join hands ahead of the elections, it is speculated that the CPI(M) would resolve the issue on 15 February 15, when it will start holding a three-day intra-party discussion. Meanwhile, the workers of both the parties are making alliances at their level to script defeat for the TMC.

  • Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls: BJP to Use Digital Screens for Campaigning

    BJP is also set to make optimum use of technology during the campaigning for Tamil Nadu assembly elections. According to the mandate of party president Amit Shah, the Tamil Nadu BJP team will take digital screens to every nook and cranny of the state. The digital screens, which will be mounted on vans, will highlight the achievements of the BJP-led Central government and the party’s vision for the state.
