  • BJP election campaign for change in UP to cover all 403 assembly seats
    The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to kick-start its first ever hi-tech ‘Parivartan Rath Yatras’ covering all 403 assembly constituencies in the election-bound state of Uttar Pradesh. The yatras would be focusing more on some 300 rural or semi-rural constituencies to help the party connect with the poor, Dalit and OBC population which comprise over 70% of UP’s electorate. The BJP yatras would start two days after UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav launches his ‘Vikas Yatra’ on November 3.

  • EC team reviews Uttarakhand's preparation for 2017 assembly polls
    A three-member team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) reached Uttarakhand to review the state's preparation for conducting the 2017 assembly elections. Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi was in the state capital Dehradun along with two Election Commissioners Achal Kumar Jyoti and OP Rawat. The team held meetings with representatives of different political parties in the fray and collected feedback from them. Uttarakhand Chief Electoral Officer Radha Raturi apprised the team about the ongoing preparation in the state for the coming 2017 assembly polls and IG Deepam Seth briefed them about the law and order situation in the state.
