About Indapur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

One of the cities in the Pune district, the assembly constituency of Indapur belongs to Baramati parliamentary constituency. The seat which was occupied by an independent candidate was taken over by INC (Indian National Congress) in 2009 assembly elections. Patil Harshavardhan Shahajirao of INC won the 2009 elections for the fourth consecutive time and is the present MLA. Earlier, he contested as an independent candidate. He defeated Dattatray Vithoba Bharane, an independent candidate. Shahajirao bagged 92729 votes as against Bharane's 84769 votes. It had a population of 383,183 as per 2011 India census.
