Basavaraj Bommai - MLA from Shiggaon (83)

Basavaraj Somappa Bommai is the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka and an Indian politician and engineer. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly for Shiggaon, where he has been elected three times since 2008. Between 2008 and 2013, he was the Minister of Water Resources and Cooperation. Bommai served in the Fourth Yediyurappa government as Minister of Home Affairs, Cooperation, Law and Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, and the Karnataka Legislature. He was also the Minister in charge of the districts of Haveri and Udupi. On July 28, 2021, he succeeded B. S. Yediyurappa as Karnataka's Chief Minister. The media and his supporters refer to him as the "Common Man - CM."
