About Bokaro Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Located in the district by the same name, the assembly constituency of Bokaro belongs to Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency. The seat is occupied by JVM (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha). Samresh Singh of JVM won the 2009 assembly elections. He defeated Md. Izrail Ansari of INC (Indian National Congress), the last time winner with a huge margin. Singh secured 53757 votes as against Ansari's 37452 votes. Having a population of 564,319, as per 2011 India census, the city is also the district headquarters. It is referred to as the Bokaro Steel City.
