About Samalkha Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Samalkha is a small town in Panipat district. The assembly constituency of Samalkha falls under Karnal Lok Sabha constituency. Originally the place was inhabited by Jat gotras of Beniwal, Kaliramana and Kuhar. Now the Jats belonging to other gotras have also settled here.The place is known for iron industries now. As of 2011 India census, Samalkha had a population of 3,05,085. The present MLA from Samalkha is Dharam Singh Chokker.
