  • In a statement issued from his office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all  the government departments to allow self-certification/attestation of documents to ease the obstacles and problems faced by the common people. The ministers have been asked to make suitable provisions for the self-attestation of documents rather than affidavits. It is also stated that the attestation by gazetted officers will be replaced by  self- attestation by the citizens of the country and the original papers could be produced during the final stage of any government proceedings.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi told US Secretary of State John Kerry that his first priority is towards the upliftment of the poor  people of his country.  According to Modi , poverty is one of the biggest challenges for any government of developing nations and it is their responsibility to address and tackle this issue. The discussion between the two leaders came after India refused to sign the World Trade Organization agreement on trade facilitation.
  • PM Modi is likely to address the United Nations General Assembly to be held on 27 September. This will be the first time that he will give a global speech addressing an audience of about 200 leaders of the world during the annual meeting of the world body’s policymaking organ. 
  • The government  expects to earn about Rs. 9,355 crore from the spectrum auction for GSM and CDMA mobile services which is likely to held in the month of February next year. It is reported that the auction could begin from 3 February 2015 if the recommendations are finalised by the Telecom Regularity Authority of India. The revenue target from communication services set by the government is estimated at Rs 45,471.
  • In another event of the prevailing UPSC row, activists from NSUI staged a protest outside the residence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The protestors are reportedly demanding scrapping of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). The protest headed by NSUI general secretary Mohit Sharma began at around 9AM and the protestors raised slogan against the BJP-led Central government and the UPSC.
  • Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu met Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana separately. Naidu asked the CMs to prepare detailed reports about the projects which need Central assistance. He explained the current position of the development works  in both the states.
