Here are the highlights for Day 34 of Modi government

  • According to the Business Outlook Survey by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), business confidence is up after the Modi government took charge.
  • PM greeted the nation on the occasion of 'rath yatras' that are conducted across the country. He also greeted people on Ashadhi Bij, the Kutchi new year.
  • Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urged Narendra Modi to take some action for creation of the proposed Brahmaputra River Valley Authority (BRVA) by revamping the existing Brahmaputra Board.
  • PM today landed at the Chennai airport enroute to India's rocket port of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Modi met Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa during a stopover in Chennai on his way to Sriharikota.
  • BJP leader L K Advani compared PM Modi to a batsman who becomes Captain in the very first Test match he plays and scores a triple century. He praised Modi for directing the party and the national alliance to a great victory in the recent general elections.
  • External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that Indians in Iraq are safe and attempts are being made to establish direct contact with those in conflict zones. Swaraj also chaired a meeting of envoys in the Gulf region to find out ways to rescue citizens from the violence-hit country.
