Here are the highlights for Day 22 of Modi government

  • As per the External Affairs Ministry, the government is in "regular touch" with the Indian nationals in Iraq and the 46 nurses who were trapped are now safe.
  • PM today presented a copy of the first ranking of the top 100 universities of BRICS member nations Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
  • Blaming hoarding of food articles for rising prices, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today asked states to take effective steps against "speculative hoarding".
  • Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence.
  • According to the sources, the Modi government is likely to replace Governors appointed by the UPA-II government. The government is likely to change the Governors of Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Punjab.
  • Many of the ministers and bureaucrats in the Modi government are opposed to the decision of working six days a week.
  • Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah today questioned the PMO's move to put on hold the appointment of private secretaries to Union ministers.
  • The government is planning to carry out reforms in defence sector which will increase efficiency and encourage domestic industry. 
  • Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry O. Rogozin will meet External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tomorrow. This will be the first high-level contact of Russia with the Modi government.
  • Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the centre-state division of the home ministry and asked for quick implementation of the Crimes and Criminal Network Tracking and Systems (CCTNS) project and the Nirbhaya Fund project.
